Listen in on Sunday, September 8th, 2013, at 5:00pm as we speak with Mr. Jim Lyde of The Liberty Cell on KLIF 570AM.
Here is a breif bio of Mr. Jim Lyde:
Jim Lyde, originally from Henrietta, Texas, lived briefly as a child in Abilene, Texas and grew up in Pasadena, Texas. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1963 and worked as a construction worker and credit manager before attending Midwestern University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1972.
Upon graduation, Lyde joined the Pasadena, TX, Police Department (PPD) and worked there for almost 17 years, serving in various capacities as a patrolman, coordinator, supervisor and commander, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. During his tenure at PPD, Lyde obtained a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Sam Houston State University.
Having been active throughout his law enforcement career in the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA), Lyde was elected to its Board of Directors in 1978. He subsequently held the offices of Membership Chairman, Legislative Chairman and ultimately President of that organization. In 1988 Lyde was selected as TMPA’s first Executive Director. The association, founded in 1950, was in decline with only 1200 members remaining from its previous high of 10,000. Lyde quadrupled the membership of TMPA, increased its budget ten-fold and restored the Association’s respected position with the Commission on Law Enforcement, the Texas Legislature and the law enforcement community of Texas.
In 2000 Lyde became a law enforcement consultant and was also a realtor for five years. He was hired by the Texas Education Agency in 2006 as a Deputy Inspector General, and retired in 2008.
Lyde is now the Chief Operating Officer for The Liberty Cell, which is an on-line educational forum for developing solutions based on merit to vital American issues. This society has a thirst for the truth, and TLC is a vehicle to determine the validity of the issues and how best to address them. Our great country is in desperate need of responsible dialogue. The Liberty Cell strives to develop real solutions to situations being addressed and publish those proposed solutions as TLC brings forth other issues. Ultimately, The Liberty Cell will provoke change from elected officials.
Jim Lyde resides with Nancy, his wonderful wife of 47 years, in Austin, Texas, where they are members of the Tarrytown United Methodist Church. Nancy is a teacher who retired with numerous recognitions and honors. The Lydes have three children, Jeff, an operations and safety director in the oil and gas industry, Kimberly, a realtor and the wife of an Austin television news anchor and Jason, an aerospace engineer for NASA, as well as eleven splendid grandchildren.
